How this 8th CPC pay matrix is built

The 7th CPC pay matrix has 19 levels. Each level starts at an entry pay and every cell above it is 3% higher, rounded to the nearest ₹100. To project the 8th CPC matrix, we multiply each cell by the fitment factor and round again to the nearest ₹100, just as the 7th CPC did with 2.57.

When the real matrix is published, the commission may merge levels (the NC-JCM has proposed this), change the increment rate or add cells. We will update this page as soon as official figures are out.

8th CPC pay matrix FAQs

Has the 8th CPC pay matrix been released?
No. The 8th Pay Commission’s report is due around May 2027. This page projects the matrix by applying a fitment factor to every cell of the 7th CPC matrix, which is how the 7th CPC itself converted pay.
How is the expected 8th CPC pay matrix calculated?
Each 7th CPC cell is multiplied by the fitment factor and rounded to the nearest ₹100. For example, Level 1 Cell 1 is ₹18,000 × 2.28 = ₹41,000. The commission could also change the number of levels, the 3% increment or the cell structure.
What is the starting pay of Level 1 in the 8th Pay Commission?
Level 1 starts at ₹18,000 today. It would be ₹34,600 at 1.92, ₹41,000 at 2.28 and ₹51,500 at 2.86.
Will the annual increment stay at 3%?
The 7th CPC matrix moves 3% per cell. The NC-JCM Staff Side has asked the 8th CPC to raise the annual increment to 6%, but nothing has been decided.
